Produced by Abdon Punzo Ángel (Mexican, 1955–2021). This hand-wrought copper vessel takes on a graceful, voluminous rounded form. Its broad shoulder tapers gently to a delicately flared mouth, the body accentuated with three finely defined corners — a testament to the artist's refined command of form and material.

Mexico, mid to late 20th century
10.5"h, 10"w (at widest)

More Details

In excellent condition, with minimal, expected patina wear and no dents or dings. Incised with the maker's signature on the underside.

Abdon Punzo Ángel's workshop is located in Santa Clara del Cobre, Mexico, a town renowned for its long tradition of handcrafts. Santa Clara del Cobre is especially celebrated for copper work, produced using time-honored methods in open-air workshops. Nearly all forms are hammered into shape from a single piece or block of copper, including elements such as handles, which are raised together with the main body, eliminating the need for soldering.
