Marco Zanini (b. Trento, 1954) studied architecture at the University of Florence before completing his studies in the United States. He worked briefly as a designer at Argonaut Company in Los Angeles, then returned to Florence, where he worked under Ettore Sottsass, whom he had first met as a student in 1975. In 1981, Sottsass invited Zanini to become one of the co-founders of Memphis, Milan.
